.        1951 Bag for Personal Effects to Model 51 Backpack (used until 1958)
.        Modified after 1958 (mounting straps separated)
.        Idea of a double pack (bag for personal effects could be strapped on to a backpack)
.        In the picture, the bag for personal effects was equipped with the wrong straps; consequently it is not an official Swiss Army model
.        The original straps were remounted from the backpack to the bag for personal effects
.        Used as a replacement for a field pack in the infantry in general.  An appropriate description can be found in Regulation 51.40d (1958 edition) / pages 54-61 and the insert on the Model 51 Bag for Personal Effects
