LIONEL SOLID T-RAIL SWITCHES

There are eleven pieces for sale. Five and one half pair. I have owned these since the mid-sixties. These are not from a barn or a damp basement. They were purchased along with much t-rail gear from the Red Caboose in Manhattan, New York. These came from a working layout to the store and to me.

Several years ago I had them gone over and the frogs checked. I believe I had one or two replaced with NOS from (original) Madison hardware that I bought for that very purpose. Functionality was checked as well. Still, they have now been unused for a good length of time and are being sold "as is". Please examine the photos and ask whatever questions you would like to. Notice that one of the switches has two ties on one leg, while all the others have a single tie in that position. It appears to be original. I have not checked my old catalogues to see if there were different production runs with differing tie configurations. There is a mix of metal and plastic motor housings. I believe the photo shows eight metal and three plastic. Metal = no "L" (?). The box is packed, but if absolutely necessary to make a sale, I will count the types. There are no turn indicators with the motors. They, of course, can be replaced with readily available standard "0 gauge switch indicators. There are no controllers either. They, of course, can be replaced with readily available standard "0 gauge controllers. I imagine they were sold along with the rest of my personal collection several years ago. Sorry.... Two of the switches have a small warp to them, as can be seen in the edge photo. This warp can be made to lie flat with a very small amount of pressure, and will not present any problem once the switch is mounted in place. There is no chance of the switch breaking as long as the underlying surface is flat.

The switches will respond extremely well to a good cleaning. There is little if any substantial abuse to these units.

Whatever Lionel or anyone else they may make ........They ain't makin' any more of these! Like land, there's only so much.

These will make an exciting addition to a solid t-rail layout, affording more variety than one usually has because of the lack of switches.
